I have always wanted to make a pizza burger after seeing all the Dominos ads out there and I decided to try it out with our humble pav bun (Indian dinner bread rolls) which is easily available.  Pav buns were originally bought by me to make vada pav but with my pizza fetish, pizza pav it was!! It is so easy to put together, even your kids can fix it with a little help!!

The first time I ate pizza was during my first trip to a Pizza Hut in US in the 80s.  It was the first restaurant I had visited and fell in love with this Italian gift to the world and it has been raining pizzas in my house at least once a week, either homemade or take out.  Pizza Pav is one such take on pizza!! Feel free to change the toppings to suit your taste. You can either make the filling like I make them on the stove top or just layer the vegetables, cheese and pizza sauce or even ketchup to make this instant easy Pizza pav!

Just pull apart the pav buns and gooey, spicy easy pizza pavs are ready to dig into!!!

It involves 4 quick steps:

Making the filling, layering the toppings on the pav, brushing the top with the butter mixture and then baking.

Let us make the filling:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees Centigrade,.
  • Gather the ingredients for the filling.

  • In a saucepan, heat the oil and add the onions, garlic and green chillies.

  17. Check to see if the cheese has melted, if not, bake for a few more minutes.

Notes

The filling can be made ahead of time and the pizza pavs assembled just before baking and serving.

You can either use mozzarella slices or grated and if you do not have mozzarella cheese, use any cheese you like.

For a quicker method, just layer readymade or homemade pizza sauce/tomato ketchup over the pavs, and top with fresh cut vegetables instead of making the filling ahead. Rest of the recipe is the same.
