Homemade Coffee Cream and Peanut Butter filled Chocolates are easy to make no cook, no bake decadent filled chocolates perfect to give as edible gifts to your loved ones or as an indulgent treat for you and your family!

It was my husband’s birthday and also my niece’s wedding anniversary a couple of days back.  A large family party had been arranged in their house and I was wondering what special I could take as a hostess gift.

Cake was not a choice as they had already ordered one for the party. I always have cooking chocolates lying in my pantry (by this time you all must know how much I love chocolates, be it in candy form, in brownies, cookies or in cakes!!) and with a box full of strawberries in the refrigerator, maybe chocolate dipped strawberries?  One look at the strawberry carton and that was not to be as there were not enough strawberries to go around for everyone!

Peanut butter, instant coffee powder as well as condensed milk being always stocked up in my pantry, it was homemade Reese’s Peanut Butter cups (fortunately, I had the same shape mould too), and coffee cream filled heart shaped chocolates.

Reese’s Peanut butter cups are a popular American candy bar, an indulgence for peanut butter and chocolate lovers; peanut butter is encased in milk or dark chocolate shell in a classic shape. When my kids were small, these were their favorite candy bars. I decided to recreate them in my kitchen for all of you.

For the cream filled chocolates, it was coffee flavored all the way. I cannot do without my morning coffee. So I decided to make these filled chocolates with a coffee flavored creamy filling. It has been a long time since I made them (the last time I had made them were when my sons were my little boys!) and I could not wait to make them again and bite into one of these creamy, oozing filled chocolate!

So grab some chocolate molds and store bought chocolate, peanut butter and condensed milk and rustle up these in your kitchen to wow your family! Pack them up and gift them to your loved ones (family and friends); a perfect edible gift to enjoy any time!

Do try these decadent, easy homemade filled chocolates and brighten up someone's day!!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Homemade Coffee Cream and Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates

Easy to make no cook, no bake decadent filled chocolates perfect to give as edible gifts to your loved ones or as an indulgent treat for you and your family!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups chocolate (dark or milk or combination of both)
  • ¼ cup peanut butter (crunchy or creamy)
  • ¼ cup condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
  • Chocolate molds in your favorite shape (I have used heart shaped for the cream filling and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups shaped molds for the peanut butter ones; you can use any that you have)

Instructions

First make the filling for the coffee cream filled chocolates:
  1. In a small bowl, add condensed milk and coffee; microwave for about 20 seconds or so till the mixture is slightly hot.
  2. Mix well to make a creamy coffee flavored filling. Do a taste test and add more coffee or condensed milk to suit your taste. Keep aside.
  3. Melting the chocolate:
  4. Chop chocolates into small pieces and place in a mixing bowl.
  5. You can either melt the chocolate in a microwave (in 30-second bursts till fully melted) or over a pan of simmering hot water, mixing continuously till melted and forms a smooth mixture.
  6. You can see step-by-step method for melting the chocolate in my recipes for Kit Kat bars and Nutella filled chocolates on my blog.
  7. To make the Reese’s peanut butter chocolates:
  8. Take about ¼ cup peanut butter in a small bowl and heat in a microwave till soft and slightly liquidy.
  9. Take the chocolate mould used for Reese’s Peanut Butter cups and using a small spoon or a piping bag, fill all the moulds with chocolates till the top of the mould.
  10. Tap the mould on the counter to remove air bubbles. Tip the filled mould over a large bowl or the bowl of melted chocolate (if it is large enough) to remove excess chocolate and leave only a thin coating of chocolate in the mould.
  11. Place the chocolate coated mould in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to set.
  12. After 10 minutes, remove from the refrigerator; chocolate shells are ready to be filled.
  13. Gently fill each shell with a little bit of peanut butter; take care not to overfill.
  14. Once all the shells are filled with peanut butter, gently tap the mould again on the counter.
  15. Now bring the chocolate back to a molten state and spoon over the filled chocolate shells to encase the filling completely till the top of the mould without leaving any opening or gap.
  16. Tap again to settle and level the chocolate.
  17. Return to the refrigerator and chill the filled chocolates to set completely, about 10 to 15 minutes again.
  18. Once the chocolates are completely chilled and set (if you are using a plastic mould, you will notice that chocolate at the bottom of the mould will look dry and will not stick to the mould).
  19. Overturn the mould over a tray and gently tap the mould until all the chocolates come out easily; if not, return to chill again.
  20. Homemade decadent Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are ready.
  21. Now to make the coffee cream filled chocolates:
  22. Using the same technique mentioned above, fill all the moulds with coffee cream filling prepared earlier and allow to set in the refrigerator.
  23. Once they are set, scrumptious coffee cream flavored chocolates are ready to bite into!!
  24. Store homemade filled chocolates in an airtight container at room temperature.

Notes

You can use any combinations of chocolate; milk, dark, white etc.

Play around with different fillings to treat yourself to a myriad of flavors like caramel, strawberry, jam filled, Nutella, chocolate ganache etc.

      Enjoy the chocolates!

      Hi Nisha

You can follow the same recipe, just add some peppermint essence instead of coffee powder in condensed milk; just a dash!

Hi Jennifer! Sorry for the delay in replying. These awesome chocolates last for a long time in the fridge; at least 2 to 3 weeks. As it has condensed milk, they do not get spoilt. Diwali is long gone, but you can make these for Christmas 🙂

Are you using a mold for the chocolate shell? It also depends upon the type of chocolate you use dear. If you can share some more details about the type of chocolate and the procedure you are following; that would be helpful. When I made these, I was in Mysore, Karnataka. As long as the room is cool, all chocolates maintain shape. It would be nice if you can share more details Ronica 🙂

I don't like coffee or peanut butter, but i do like chocolate and cherry together, do you think it would work well to fill them with the canned cherry pie filling from the store?
