I love recreating recipes at home using ingredients easily available. Chocolates are my favorite to-do treat!! I am sure everybody loves Kit Kat bars.  Homemade Kit Kat Bars are the easiest chocolates you can make in about 15 minutes!! You need only 2 ingredients (yes only 2!!) to make these crispy chocolate bars with crunchy wafers and chocolate.

Has anybody seen the movie “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”? It is an American musical fantasy movie about 5 children who get to visit Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory by virtue of getting a golden ticket each.  They win a trip to the factory and a lifetime supply of chocolates!! I remember watching this movie during my childhood and even today memories of rivers of chocolate, mountains of candies and other sweet goodies portrayed in the movie are still stuck in my mind!!  Ever since then, I have been a fan of chocolate!!

I love making my own chocolates at home, filled or otherwise. If you love Kit Kat bars or any other form of chocolate, you will love these easy, crisp chocolate bars and will never buy another ready made chocolate again!!

Creamy wafer biscuits are easily available and with some chocolates from the supermarket (like Ghirardelli, Hershey’s, Morde’s or any other you can get your hands on), making these are child’s play. All you need to do is melt the chocolate; either over a double boiler, which I prefer, or in the microwave. Once they are melted, just dip these crispy wafers in the molten chocolate, lift with a fork and set on foil or parchment paper.  Once set (either at room temperature or in the refrigerator), they are ready to be served. Today, I have used chocolate wafer biscuit with milk chocolate and strawberry wafer biscuits with white chocolate(for my Mom who does not like milk or dark chocolate).

Homemade Kit Kat bars are perfect as a mid- morning snack to serve to hungry kids (or even as a treat for yourself!) or at any party.  They are great as gifts too!! So, have a break, have a Kit Kat!!!

Easy Homemade Kit Kat Bars (only 2 ingredients)

Homemade Kit Kat bars with just 2 ingredients; chocolate and wafer biscuits!

Ingredients

  • 200 gms of milk chocolate
  • 200 gms of white chocolate
  • Chocolate wafer biscuits
  • Strawberry wafer biscuits
  • Aluminium foil/parchment paper/wax paper for setting the bars

Instructions

  1. Take a large baking or metal sheet pan and line with aluminium foil.
  2. Chop the chocolates (both milk and white chocolate) into small pieces (to facilitate the melting process) in separate bowls.
  3. First let us make the milk chocolate kit kat bars.
  4. Set up a double boiler (a small pan with boiling simmering water on which to place the bowl of chopped chocolates).
  5. As the bottom of the bowl heats up, the chocolate will start melting. Keep stirring till completely melted.
  6. Remove from heat and mix well till chocolate is smooth and without lumps.
  7. Take one chocolate wafer and dip in the chocolate. Pour chocolate on the wafer with a spoon to coat completely, turning it often with the spoon. Gently lift the coated wafer with a fork and tap the fork on the edge of the bowl so that excess chocolate drips and then gently place the chocolate coated wafer on foil-lined pan.
  8. Continue with all the chocolate wafers the same way.
  9. Do the same process with strawberry wafers and white chocolate.
  10. Once you have dipped all your wafers (chocolate wafers in milk chocolate and strawberry wafers in white chocolate), allow the bars to set completely in the foil-lined pan(at room temperature or in a refrigerator for quick setting).
  11. Once it has set completely, gently slide it out from the foil and serve these crunchy, chocolaty homemade Kit Kat bars or take a bit yourself!!

Notes

If edges are uneven, trim with a sharp knife.

You can make these with any flavor of wafers and any type of chocolate (milk, dark or white).

Chocolate can be melted easily in the microwave too. Place in microwave for 30 second bursts, stirring in between till completely melted.
