Apple and Mango Fruit Raita (no added sugar/no cook)

A delicious medley of apple chunks, sweet pomegranate arils, nutty bits of walnuts in a creamy and mildly spiced, naturally sweetened mango flavored yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chilled yogurt
  • ½ cup unsweetened mango puree or as needed
  • 1 medium sized apple chopped into bite sized chunks
  • 2-3 tablespoons pomegranate arils or as needed
  • Few walnut kernels chopped
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon roasted jeera/cumin powder
  • Pinch of Pink salt/black salt or regular salt chaat masala powder
  • Mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Beat the chilled yogurt to a smooth sauce.
  2. Stir in the mango puree well.
  3. Taste and add more if needed.

  4. (You could also add honey/date syrup or powdered sugar if you prefer)

  5. Add the roasted cumin powder and pink salt. Taste and adjust the amount needed to your preference.
  6. Mix in the apple chunks, pomegranate, chopped walnuts etc.
  7. Cover the raita and chill in the refrigerator in an airtight container until serving time.
  8. Enjoy refreshing, dessert like Apple and Mango Raita with any meal you like or even as a snack or dessert…that delicious!

Recipe Notes

  • Feel free to add or substitute with any fruit you like, be it chopped bananas, grapes or even fresh mango chunks.
  • Why, some added dates or even raisins sound amazing too!
  • During off season, you can use canned mango or even frozen mango puree.
  • Adjust the amount of seasonings to your liking.
  • Make sure yogurt is fresh and not sour.
  • For more sweetness you can add honey if you like or even date syrup; jaggery powder would change the color of the raita.
